The current version of PlaceMaker cannot import terrain. This is a feature we are hoping to add in a future update.
In order to import terrain, you can use the Add Location Tool in SketchUp 2017 Pro (or newer).
- Click the 'Add Location' button in the toolbar.
- Choose your location
- Open your 'Layers' panel and make sure that 'Location Terrain' is visible.
With the terrain surface now in your model, you can then select it and import onto it with PlaceMaker.
It is also possible to create terrain surfaces using the SketchUp sandbox tools.
Can I use my own terrain data?
Yes, if you are able to import and properly geo-locate your terrain data with SketchUp, you can also use it with PlaceMaker. At this time, PlaceMaker does not include any tools for importing user-terrain.
