Gaps in draped lines on terrain after using skimp
Hi. First off I want to say I absolutely love Skimp, but I have recently started notecing a drawback. When ever i skimp a terrain and replace the original terrain, then when i want to drape lines onto that new skimped terrain, several gaps appear in the draped lines. This means I can't select isolated patches of faces. I then have to turn on hidden geometry and manually draw out the gaps using the line tool. If you were able to fix this issue it would be amazing!

Hi Anders, glad to hear you are liking Skimp! Is it possible for you to send a link to the Skimped terrain model with the linework immediately prior to draping?
I don't think the issue is caused by Skimp. The drape tool is known to have these issues but I would like to inspect your model to be sure.

Hi again!
After examining the issue more closely, it appears that this happens when lines are draped onto the terrain, and the lines directly intersect the corner of triangles. This seems to be more of a SketchUp issue than a Skimp issue, but the symptom does occur for me after using Skimp in relation to the way I have been aligning my lines that I want to drape. Recently, I have been using multiple LiDAR terrains with 1-2 pixel resolution. This means a densely packed mesh with very even and regular triangulation divided into squares. Since I always work with square terrains and want to divide the square according to the original structure, as well as subdivide the terrain into multiple squares in groups for performance boost, it is likely that some of the lines I want to use for draping onto the terrain will coincide with the structure of the triangulation in a Skimp terrain.
So I guess what you say is right that the issue isn't directly related to Skimp but the way Sketchup handles the drape function when it hits part of the surcace where 3 triangles meet.
I included my test scene in the link below. On top you'll find the initial terrain exported from Civil3D and on the bottom you'll find the skimped terrain. In the middle you'll find the original drape lines. If you offset them slightly you'll see that the drape function works ok. You'll also find that draping the original top terrain works ok and this was the reason why I suspected Skimp. I'll adress this for the Sketchup team when i can find the time.

Let's see if the Sketchup team can figure this one out!
