Getting assembly right

"I want to improve an assembly. As it is currently set up, it has an interruption in the turns and too much at the start. The second photo is how it should be. Can someone help me with the settings so that when I draw a line, the object follows this line and creates an overlap of the object at the start/end/turn until the endpoint or junction?"

  I suggest creating the 'feet' as components and the rest of it as a sub-assembly spans that is supported by the feet components. If you want to put a support at the change in direction, make sure to adjust your the junction angle for this component accordingly.
