    Good afternoon, I would like to use decastal to design metal structures! I want to quickly draw frames, columns, beams and get quick specifications for them and detailed drawings!

    Hi Dale,

    I'm just an architect and so DECAsteel might prove to be something too specific for my usage.

    However, I'm a Profile Builder fanboy and I can't see why, DECAsteel would have to be something different from PB.

    Isn't it something like a more accurate extension from it's functionality?

    Why not improve PB or connect both?

    I also find a lot of concepts on your description of DECAsteel parts as Sketchup components that would be easily expanded to architectural elements, like windows, stairs, wardrobes, rails, etc.

    So DECAsteel, at it's core conceps level seems it could be used for a lot more than just steel structures and that would be something I'd be very curious to understand. I'll wait and see what you come up with as I know it will be very interesting, judging for your past endeavours!

    Hi JQL,

    DECAsteel will be specifically design to meet the needs of steel designers, engineers, and fabricators.  The core modelling approach could be applied to other plugins, yes, but DECAsteel will have far too many 'steel-specific' features that it just doesn't make sense to combine it into PB.  

    However, it is planned the PB will be able to recognize beams and columns created by DS as they are also a type of Profile Member which is compatible with PB.

    Hi Dale,

    Very excited about this plugin. Does it also support exporting to DSTV (or .nc1 files) for automated cnc beam lines? Would be a huge plus
