Good afternoon - I started testing the plugin, in general I have mastered its concept and device:
1 it’s a pity there are no other plugin languages other than English!
2 Groups are created, of course it is more convenient to work with components in order to avoid selection or lose significant changes in the model
3 I tested on a square profile and it was not possible to establish connections with the columns, I’m probably doing something wrong

Hi all, it would make more sense to install the Profiles from within the Extension itself. Instead of manually going to the Extension Manager.

to add bolts I have to start a new project via extensions-decasteel-newproject, otherwise it won't work. But I want to use decasteel in an existing drawing.

Hi Gerard - this is a bug in the current version.  We hope to release a fix sometime this week.

Edit: This is now been fixed in version 0.1.3

    Feedback by Johnny Normann:

Is there a way, or will there be a way to build Components in stead of groups  ?

And if so. would it be possible to have it as a feature of option  that components are named in their Definition field and not in instance field ?

For me at least, an I think a lot of others ( I hope)  the logical way would have the definition field describing the component stock name, and the instance as the "partnumber"

if you name/identify a component by their In definition name and make a copy you would also remember to keep track of it, if you make it unike the instance name would change not definition fileld, and thus you would have a partlist issue, if you forget to change the instance filed as well.

Really hope this makes sense, and would be taken in to consideration.

    Hello Dale,

It would be useful to include bolts with double washers, one under the nut and one under the head of the bolt. This option would be used, in my case, for bolting with controlled tightening according to EN 14399 HR and HV.

    Thank you,

    Giovanni

    Hello Dale,

actually bolt pitch is defined only in "Standard". It would be useful adding the choice of bolt spacing in every single connection. If I use bolts of various diameters I need different bolt spacing.

    Thanks,

    Giovanni

Thank you - please note that I will not comment on every request but I will record all valid requests and hope to see community 'up-votes' to help determine which are the top feature requests.

Further to Giovanni's request above (I was going to request the same), I use a lot of self-drilling screws to fix lightweight cold rolled trusses to cleats on beams. The cleats are provided with holes for the screws. Could this be accommodated in some manner?

Nigel - can you please clarify - are you wanting DECAsteel to insert the screws automatically?  Or just provide the ability to define the connection plates as shown in your image?  Based on your image, I assume the cleats are pre-welded to the beams and then the screws are added on site to connect to the trusses.

Xin chào, tôi quan tâm đến việc tự tạo thủ công thư viện loại thép trong DECAsteel. Tôi muốn có thư viện DECAsteel cho tiêu chuẩn áp dụng tại Việt Nam, nếu bạn quan tâm hãy bổ xung tính năng hoặc thư viện này. Xin cảm ơn

    Translation:

Hi, I am interested in manually creating a steel type library in DECAsteel. I want a DECAsteel library for the standard applied in Vietnam, if you are interested please add this feature or library. Thanks

Dale - you assumed correctly, the cleats are welded to the beams. I have worked out how to create these using the PLATE feature. And it would be nice (not essential) if screws could be added to the model. That helps ensure they are ordered with all the other fasteners.

On the PLATE feature, I don't see a way to save them for future use (as you can with BASE PLATE). Will this be added in future?

truongminhtien - do you use Thailand or Japan profiles in Vietnam?  Or do you have your own standard profiles?  I already have information about Thailand and Japan profiles but there is no library created yet.

If you have reference information for Vietnam profiles, please send it to me by submitting a support request.  Best is if you have the profile information as an Excel table.

Nigel - We have plans to add a save / load feature for custom plates.  However, it should be possible for you to right-click a custom created DECAsteel plate component and save it to the location of your choice.  Then, you can drag / drop it into your future models.  Does this help?

Dale - Thank you. I had considered saving DECAsteel plates to my components folder, but not tried it. Just ran a test to see if plates retain DECAsteel properties on inserting into a new model, they do. So that works.

How can you uninstall a library, is it possible? I want to remove the Canadian library now you have released the AUS library

Matthew - yes, you can open your Steel Profiles folder (defined in your Standard) and then simply delete all SKP files in that folder.  Each profile is an individual skp file.

Dale, Mathew - I also wanted to delete the European profiles I had been using, they were mixed with the recently installed AU profiles in my library. I deleted everything in the Profile folder, then reinstalled the AU Library using the extension manager. The list of profiles in the folder is now much shorter - without all the unfamiliar ones.

I can see instances of people wanting to work with at least a couple of different profile libraries. While deleting/reinstalling the file wasn't difficult or time consuming, would it be better to be able to toggle between different libraries? Rather than lumping every countries profiles in the one folder? Overwriting the existing Library with a new Library install is probably not the answer for everyone.

Nigel - the idea with DECAsteel is that your current library folder is specified by your currently loaded Standard. You should create and save a separate Standard for each different library location that you wish to use.  For example, if you are working with Australia profiles and design standards, create an Australia Standard which also defines the profile location for your AU profiles.  If you are working with Europe standards, create a Europe standard and set the profile folder to a different location.  Then, when you install a new profile library, you just need to make sure that the proper standard is set so that the profiles will be installed in the proper location.

That being said, I'm sure we could make some improvements to make these processes easier.
