Hole Tool and the error " Not enough clearance to drill"
Can someone explain the Hole Tool and the error " Not enough clearance to drill" message?
This has happened to me several times but an example is a short angle stud wall with a bottom and top plate. I tried putting the holes in the bottom plate when I got closer to the short end it wouldn't let me place the holes and I get this error. When I turn off the top plate in Outliner I am able to place the holes in the bottom plate the full length.
Does the hole tool actually think it's literally drilling a hole with a drill and bit and it's trying to tell me I can't get a drill gun in there?

The Hole Tool uses 3D ray-testing to intersect the model for determining where to cut the hole. This method requires some clearance between the surface being cut and other parts of the model in order to avoid false intersections due to precision issues.
The issue can often be solved if you zoom in your view very close to the surface you are cutting or if you temporarily hide other objects in the vicinity of the object being cut.
We will be taking a look at this issue more closely in a future update and hopefully improve how it works so this issue will no longer occur.
