Defining 'lump sum' items in Quantifier Pro, based on quantity and unit cost
I would like to define a series of costs in my Quantifier Pro model. Because the physical objects corresponding to these costs are completely irrelevant from a modeling point of view, I don't want to design and include them as groups or components in my Sketchup model. However, certain of these items represent a 'significant' portion in the overall cost structure.
So, the items are discrete objects (--> unit = PC or EA), have a unit cost, and have multiple instances within the physical world of my model. I see no way to properly represent these costs in Quantifier Pro (i.e. as a multiplication of 'Qty' and 'unit cost'):
- Tags$ and Objects$: depend on groups or components in Sketchup. In addition, specifically for tags: it's not possible to define 'EA' as UOM.
- Materials$: Also require something that must be 'designed' in Sketchup. Furthermore, the only allowed UOM for the materals category is 'm2/ft2. while the size is completely irrelevant in combination with the unit price.
- Model$: This looks like the 'best' category. However, the UOM for this type of allocation rule is 'Lot'. There is no way to define the specific quantity in this case.
Can you let me know whether there is something that I've overlooked, and that would allow to achieve me what I need/want?
If this is indeed a missing functionality, would it be possible to include this feature in a future update?

I would use Model$ for something like this. There are two ways you could approach it. You could input the total cost directly as the Unit cost or you could use the Factor field to represent the number of items and use the Unit cost to represent the cost per unit for this item. It's just a matter of how you want to see it shown in the cost detail report.

Thanks a lot for your very quick feedback. I definitively prefer the first approach. The result is actually what I was trying to achieve myself (but couldn't find out how to do it)...
I already used the 'factor' variable to translate between UOM's, e.g. to convert m3 into m2 for objects (like walls) with a constant thickness. The reason for doing so, is because the 'area' measure (m2) in Quantifier Pro is often no fit for purpose due to the way that it's calculated. Because my models are designed as collections of solids (thanks also to your outstanding BoolTools2 extension!) the calculation of volumes is accurate.
I just didn't realize that 'Lot' (in case of Model$) could conceptually also be considered as a 'UOM' for which the same conversion trick could be used.
