Unexpected behavior when using profiles to create components

If your assembly has components that were constructed using profiles , using the “set assembly height” tool seems to rotate and reset or in some cases move the components out into space at some random dimension. Is it then advisable to use the set assembly height tool only with components that are NOT made of profiles? Example: try doing the tutorial #11 and then change the assembly height and see what you get. Thoughts?

  Hi Omar,

  Thank you for this report.  We will check into it.  It 'should' work to use the height tool on components that are made from profiles but there might be some edge-cases where it doesn't behave as expected.

  Here is a simple assembly that shows the odd behavior.  is a very simple arrangement of profiles for bottom and top plates of a stud wall. just a test.  The studs are components made from the profiles. i changed their axis for them to work with the orientation of the studs. If i use the "Set height" tool the studs rotate back to their original profile orientation.

  Well 

  I got it to work, but there is very specific sequence that i can't recreate... Does the stud component/profile need a new name so as not to confuse it with the bottom plate profile? i hope that makes sense...

  Hi Omar,

  Thanks again for the report.  I have logged this as a bug internally and hope to fix it in a future update.  For now, the recommended workaround is to not use vertical Profile Member components in assemblies if you plan to modify the axis and height of the Profile Member.  (Usually the axis must be modified when using a component inside an assembly)
