Ideas and Feature Requests
This plugin is wonderful and has a lot of great potential.
Unfortunately, I do not do a ton of cost estimating, but would love to have the functionality and reporting power for other uses. Have you ever thought of allowing the user to adjust the type of reporting that can be done? Rather than focus solely on cost, I would love to be able to calculate area and materials in say an urban design programming model and get live feedback for unit count (material area/average unit area), parking spaces, total retail square footage, etc.
I love the idea of being able to get live, auto-refreshed, feedback from the model without having to export a report and open it in a spreadsheet application to perform manipulations on it. The current ability to reference a spreadsheet for cost date, or other data :) is fantastic though.
A "Quantifier Dialog" where the user can select the types of info and really customise the information on display.
Thanks again for a wonderful plugin - sorry if these ideas are too outside of the intended focus. It just seems like a couple small changes to the interface could open this up to a lot of other types of "quantifying".
Best,
Jeff

Hi Jeffrey,
Thank you for your comments. I would suggest taking a look at the Cost Inspector Tool within Quantifier Pro. Even if you are not interested in the cost per se, you should be able to set up some cost data that will convert quantities in your model to a more useful output. For example, you could set up a cost data rule where that converts surface area to number of parking spaces. You just need to input the 'factor' for converting the area to number of spaces.
Then, you could use the cost inspector tool to get live auto-refreshed feedback as the model changes.

Thank you Dale for following up on this.
That is helpful. I do like the Cost Inspector - is there a way to keep that window open while you use other sketchup tools? Is there also a way that it doesn't completely change the appearance of colors/materials in the model? Also, is there a way to select more than one group/component at a time, or groups/components that have subgroups/subcomponents?
It would be great if there was a good way to customise what you see in the main Quantifier Pro dialog or the Cost Inspector dialog.
