The Harden Borders command works in conjunction with the Bevel Preferences dialog. Open the Bevel Preferences dialog to control the behavior of the Harden Borders feature. You can choose whether to harden all bevel border edges, transition edges, or both types. Refer to the animation below.
This feature operates on edges that have previously been rounded or beveled using the Bevel Tool.
This feature will harden (unsoften, reveal) the selected border and / or transition edges in the active context based on the current settings in the Preferences dialog.
This is useful for adding dimensions and to visualize the surface boundaries that have been affected by the Bevel Tool.
Operation
- (Optional) Preselect edges to harden. You can also select faces and the face-edges will be processed. If nothing is selected, all edges in the active context will be processed for hardening.
- Click the toolbar icon or select Harden Borders from the Extensions->Bevel menu.
- The edges will be immediately processed and hardened depending on the current settings shown in Bevel Preferences.
Tips
- This feature only works for edges in the active editing context. It does not work across the boundaries of groups and components. You must first double-click the group or component before you can modify the edges with this feature.
