Using BoolTools
Hello ...
I'm a new user to BoolTool2s.
I am using Sketchup 2017, WIndows 10.
I can sort of make it work. Got a few questions.
When I do the YouTube example of two cylinders, all functions of BT2 works, Union, Difference, etc.
What I can't make work is this. I have some a 2x4 wall sticking through a pitched roof. I want to use a flat plan to trim the wall to the same angle as the pitch on the roof.
I get an error message. The first selected object is the 2x4. No error message. I then select the flat plane. Error message is ... the second selected object or one of it's internal objects is not a valid solid. I have just drawn a rectangle using the rectangle tool and then grouped it. As far as I can tell, it is a solid.
If I continue and remove the flat plane, I can see where it cut the 2x4. However, I can't delete or discard the portion I want gone without exploding the 2x4 and then I can erase the part I want gone. If I don't explode, it deletes the whole 2x4. Is this normal?
What am I doing wrong? Ask me any questions.
Thanks for listening ...

Hi Bob, a solid is a water-tight volume. A flat plane is not a solid. For it to be a solid, you need to extrude the flat plane using the push/pull tool and make sure all of the geometry is contained in a group or component.
If the object is a true solid, it will show as a 'solid group' when inspected using the SketchUp Entity Info panel.
I hope this helps!
