Build Along Path

Select a Path

First, select a path.

You can select a series of edges using SketchUp's Select Tool.
OR
You can select one or more faces to build along the edges of the face.
OR
You can use the Profile Builder Smart-Path select tool to select the path AND control the direction of the path (recommended).

Launch the Tool

1. Open the Profile Builder Dialog.
2. Click the 'Build Along Path' button.

Congratulations! You just built a Profile Member along a Path!

The currently selected Profile will be extruded along the selected path.
Remember to use the Smart-Path select tool if you need to control the direction of the path. This is especially important if the profile is not symmetrical.

Build Along Multiple Paths

You can select any number of continuous or disconnected edges before launching this tool.

Profile Builder will search the selected edges for various paths and then create a Profile Member along each path that it finds.

Congratulations! You built Profile Members along Multiple Paths!

This tool can be used to generate 3D framing from line drawings extremely fast!

Tip: If you currently have Profiles or Assemblies selected when you click 'Build along Path', your new Profile Member will be built along the same paths as the selected objects.
