The 'Select Place' feature has been replaced by the enhanced 'Create Geo-Surface' feature. This feature has been moved to the main PlaceMaker toolbar.
Although they both share the same icon and allow you geo-locate your model, the new feature has a few subtle differences from the original 'Select Place' feature:
- The new tool allows you to keep adding more geo-surfaces (geo-located snapshots) even after initially geo-locating your model. Unlike the original tool, doing this won't replace the model's previous geo-location settings.
- The new tool has a checkbox to enable import of very large areas. This is handy if you want to bring in a large snapshot as a reference. Although it is possible to use these extremely large areas as target surfaces for future imports, this should be done with caution as large areas can potentially take several hours to generate all of the imported geometry.
Similar to the old 'Select Place' Tool, the 'Create Geo-Surface' feature is not intended to provide you with a high-resolution aerial image of the site. Rather, the imagery import feature should be used for that purpose.
