Follow these instructions for importing Google Earth into SketchUp, Rhino, Blender, Unreal Engine, and more.
- Select the desired region in the PlaceMaker viewport.
- Click the 3D Earth Tab and ensure Google is the current source.
- Select the desired Level of Detail. Higher detail will require more tiles and more credits to import.
- Click the ‘Import 3D Earth’ button to show a preview of the data and level of detail.
- If you are happy with the preview, click the ‘Confirm’ button. This will consume PlaceMaker credits.
If you are using the SketchUp PlaceMaker plugin, the 3D tiles will get instantly imported into SketchUp.
If you are using another application such as Rhino, or Blender, follow these instructions:
- Click the PlaceMaker History tab
- Select the Google 3D Import
- Click the Download 3D Earth button to download the data as a single GLB file.
- Import the GLB into Rhino, Blender, or your desired application.
Note: If you have an active PlaceMaker subscription, you have the option to specify your own Google API key in the PlaceMaker ‘keys’ tab. If you do this, your Google Earth 3D imports will not cost any PlaceMaker credits.
