In the current version of DECAsteel, columns must be vertical. You may experience unexpected results if you rotate columns so they are no longer vertical.
Creating Columns
Open the Columns tab of the Builder Dialog.
Choose a steel profile by typing in the name or selecting from the dropdown list. If the Profile list is empty, you need to first install a profile library.
Change the column settings as desired. In this example, we create a column with base at an elevation of 0.0 and top elevation of 24'. You can set the length of the column by adjusting the Elevation field or by editing the Length field directly. The Length field shows the difference between the (top) Elevation and the Base Elevation.
Click the 'Build Column' tool to place columns in your model based on the current settings in the dialog.
Here, we click at the intersection of the grid lines to place 4 columns.
Next, we create another column with base at elevation 12' and top elevation that matches the previous columns. We also rotate this column 90 degrees by entering 90 in the Rotation field.
Editing Columns
Select the columns you wish to edit using the native Select Tool. Next, modify the settings in the dialog that you wish to change.
In this example, we have selected all of the columns, then changed the baseplate component.
To apply the change, click the 'Apply' button or press CTRL+Enter. A baseplate has been added to the columns.
Modifying End Points
If you need to adjust the end points of the column, use the Extend Tool. Or, you can select a column, modify the elevation properties, and click Apply.
