As of version 4, it is much easier to import Google 3D with PlaceMaker. A Google API key is no longer needed. Instead, you can import this data using PlaceMaker credits. This allows both subscribers and Pay-As-You-Go users to import the data.
However, if you are an active PlaceMaker subscriber, you can optionally use your personal Google API key in order to save PlaceMaker credits. Any imports made with your personal key will not consume any credits.
Setting your API Key (Optional - Subscribers Only)
Click the API Keys tab in the PlaceMaker dialog and the enable 'show keys':
Copy and paste your Google API key to use it for future 3D Earth imports.
If you get errors when importing with your key, please check the following:
- Ensure your key has no Application or IP restrictions
- Ensure your key has the Google Map Tiles API enabled
- Ensure you are using the correct key (if you have multiple keys)
- Ensure there are no billing issues with your Google account
Setting up and configuring Google API keys is outside the scope of this PlaceMaker documentation. Please refer to the Google Cloud Console to create and manage your Google API keys and for more information.
